Samuel Munro and his family moved to Lexington, Michigan formerly called Munrovia. His farm occupied the present site of the town of Lexington, Michigan. He was a tanner by trade and built a tannery and a hotel both of which he was running at the time of his death which occurred in September 1850. There was only 3 days difference in the dates of their deaths. The children were cared for by Mrs. M's parents.

...Samuel W. Monroe and William Monroe came and platted and owned that part of the [Lexington] village which has since been known as Monroe’s plat, and which includes Boynton Street. Preston Monroe [1885-1974] who lives in Lexington is a grandson of Samuel Monroe. His father was Andrew Monroe.
